A boiler is a tank that holds water or another fluid that is then heated. The resultant heated fluid or the steam that is produced is then used to power various processes in industry and the home. In a home they produce heat, hot water and steam for domestic use. The most likely fuel for a home boiler is gas that is piped in from a mains supply and regulated to heat the boiler that that then controls the temperature of the home and the water in the home. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boiler
The gas boiler system in the home comprises of several components. There are the gas supply lines, which feed into the building from a gas supply source. There is the boiler itself, which is built into the building, and the gas pipes are connected to it to feed it the fuel for operation. There is the fluid within the boiler, which in a home heating system is most likely to be water. There is the pump, which then provides the pressure to curculate the heated water, or steam and finally the pipes, which connect to radiators. These radiators are mounted on walls throughout the home and heat up when the gas boiler system is switched on. These radiators then release the heat throughout the room that they are in.
A gas boiler is constructed from metal and is usually insulated to keep the heat inside and to protect a person from being burnt should they brush against it.
