Central heating is a means of warming a home and its water supply. The heat is generated in one place in the building, which can be from a furnace (most likely in older large buildings) or through a boiler. The boiler will, in most cases today, be a gas boiler and it heats up and the heat is then distributed round the building though heating ducts or through pipes and radiators. As all water supplies are cold when they arrive at the building, the boiler is also used to heat water. Central heating systems come as standard in most newly built western homes that are situated in a climate, which does not usually require air conditioning.
